Multiples, first edition of 2,000 copies (2012), reissued in 4,000 copies (2022)
Winner of the Berthoud Visual Arts Prize
Edition of 2,000 copies in the form of fake residence permits, anonymously distributed in the urban space of Geneva in 2012, on the occasion of the Berthoud, Lissignol-Chevalier and Galland grant exhibition. This administrative document, a symbol of official status, is here repurposed as an artistic medium. It carries a short text addressing the legal and administrative difficulty of defining the status of the artist, particularly in situations involving immigration. In 2022, the Biel/Bienne Museum reissued the piece in 4,000 copies, including a German version of the text. This second dissemination allowed the work to circulate in Biel, Bern, and Basel, extending the initial gesture of infiltration into public space and further questioning legality, value, accessibility, and the ways an artwork appears — or inserts itself — into everyday life.
