Winner of the City of Geneva Grant for Independent Cinema
Told in the first person through voice-over, this film follows a young visual artist of Middle Eastern origin, based in Geneva, as she travels to a pottery school in the Fayoum founded by two Swiss potters, Evelyne Porret and Michel Pastore.
Driven by questions around artistic and cultural identity, she observes a tension between two worlds of ceramics — Geneva and the Fayoum — that reveals a mirrored journey.
Beyond migration narratives, the film explores women's emancipation through economic autonomy, and the dynamics between artistic practice and material realities.
The title is loosely inspired by the novel Season of Migration to the North by Sudanese writer Tayeb Salih.
